Rod & Wire Machining Head
Rod
& Wire Machining Head
A wire and rod machining
head which mounts on the pointing station of a CNC wire and rod
forming machine used in spring making.
The
machining head consists of a balanced housing for tungsten carbide
roller guides and turning or pointing tools. The housing is mounted
to a high-speed spindle.
The
turning tools are used to reduce the diameter of the wire or rod
when swaging or extruding are not practical. This can be for the
purpose of thread rolling or other such process. The pointing tool
machines a chamfer on the end of the wire or rod. These operations
are usually done as the first in the sequence.
