Hydraulic System for Downer EDi Rail Bogie Workshop
These photos
document an ENERPAC hydraulic system that we specified and
installed for Downer EDi Rail - Newport Workshops.
It
consists of four 10 tonne double acting cylinders and two 5 tonne
single acting cylinders, controlled by two separate
pumps.
They
are part of an apparatus for checking the trueness of machined
wheels. The machining occurs at a portal lathe preceding this
station on the production line.
The
four 10 tonne cylinders lift the wheels (weighing around 2 tonne)
evenly for checking. If they pass, the wheels are lowered, and the
two 5 tonne cylinders tilt the vee blocks forward, allowing the
wheel to roll off and continue along the production
line.
