Clamp: Directions of Use
When used
on 50 x 100 floor joists, the super camlock sprags
automatically lock on without slipping.
- Crank
screw handle to move ram out towards you, compress boards, nail and
return ram to starting position.
- Take the
main handle and pull towards you and upwards to automatically
release sprags.
An
alternate method is to take a sprag lever in each hand and turn
outwards to release.
The sprags
will open sufficiently to accommodate double lapped
joists.
When used
on 20 x 40 battens secured to a concrete floor (see above
illustration), the camlock sprags have been designed to only
project 18mm below the base of the machine. This prevents them from
fouling on the concrete floor, whilst firmly gripping the battens.
The release operation is the same as before.

Securing
machine to flat wood surfaces:
- Remove the
tension spring from the sprag lever arms.
- Remove the
two lynch pins from the sprag arms; the arms will now come
off.
- Remove the
sprags from the floor clamp body.
- Move ram
out towards you about 2cm and place in the required
position.
- Insert a
suitable sized screw (max. 10.0 mm) into the rear hole of the floor
clamp body and screw into the existing floor
material.
This
reaction method is normally adequate; if not, employ the Gap
Closer.
The Gap
Closer bolts through the 10.0 mm hole in the floor clamp body,
and it is cramped in place by four locating pins. See
picture
Securing
machine to a concrete surface:
-
- Remove
sprags, as per steps 1 to 3 on securing the machine to flat wood
surfaces.
- Position
clamp on floor
- Place
guide sleeves (spigots) with 100.0 mm concrete nails into sprag
housing and drive nails into concrete about 1cm.
- The floor
clamp body has four leverage points for easy removal, should the
nails be hammered in too far
