John Mills & Associates
were commissioned to design a prototype tool for cutting the
ducting used in laying fibre optic cable. The cut had to be very
precise to allow the ducting to fit together neatly, and could not
leave burrs that could catch and tear the cable.
The solution utilised the
KLP6 handheld hydraulic driver from Enerpac, and the result was a
tool that was one third the size and weight of the original. The
prototype has toured Europe to rave reviews.
The tool cuts two sizes: 43
x 100 mm and 43 x 150 mm.
