A Portable 25 Tonne C-Frame Press.

The regular maintenance procedures which are performed on rail carriage bogies requires that pivots and brushings (both rigid and flexible) are replaced at determined intervals. The nature of the assemblies makes the removal and fitting of these items an awkward operation. To manoeuvre these assemblies to a press is difficult and dangerous and in many instances the size of the press that will accommodate them is out of all proportion to the force needed to do the job.

In the example above a pivot bold is being ejected from a tie-rod and bolster assembly using a purpose designed C-Frame press. Once the pivot bolt is removed the tie-rod can be taken to an ENERPAC 100 tonne H-Frame press where the 125mm diameter rubber bush is removed and replaced.

This press is fitted with an ENERPAC RC2510 single acting 25 tonne cylinder powered by and Enerpac PAT1102N air/hydraulic pump.
