100 Tonne Guide Bush Extraction Tool - ENERPAC
A high-force tool for
removing the Air Bag Suspension Guide Boss found on B Class Tram
bogies
The bosses must be removed
for regular maintenance, but this was a difficult prospect as the
bosses were frozen in their housings by rust and dust.
The mating pin and housing
are 65 mm diameter.
The standard operating
procedure for removing the bosses was the drill the pin out, a
process which could take up to 5 hours.
As some trams have up to
four bogies, this could be incredibly time consuming.
John Mills
& Associates, in consultation with AD Automation and
United Group, designed and built this special 100 tonne
puller.
Using special jaws to grip
the boss, a bridge joins them to transfer the force of two 50 tonne
ENERPAC RCS-502 single acting low height cylinders to react
against the housing in the bogie.
The puller has reduced the
process time down to 10 minutes per guide, a massive increase in
productivity.
